Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club

The Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club offer sailing for the beginner right the way through to the experienced sailer.

Welcome to the Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club (RRS&RC) Website. Established in 1937 you will find us situated adjacent to the Ballina Waterslide Park, on the waterfront of the Richmond River. We are a warm, friendly, social and family orientated club, with a wealth of experienced sailing talent as members. We sail and club race weekly from September (Traditionally father’s day is the opening of our season) through to the end of May. We also run a winter sailing series, weather dependent. The season’s race/events calendar can be viewed on this website.

We have approximately 150 members, weekly competitive racing on Sunday’s at 1.30pm and a regular fleet of approximately 30 boats. We have the largest fleet of NS14’s (Northbridge Senior Dinghy’s) currently on the North Coast, and host NS14 association Coaching Clinics at the Club. We also have a steadily growing Catamaran Fleet and a small fleet of Trailer Sailers too.

We run “Learn to Sail” programmes; host a weekly transitional sail training programme from 10am-12pm on Sunday Mornings, with an affiliated sailing Coach. We have a variety of club boats available for members to use including Vagabonds, Pacers, Hawks, an Optimist and an Manly Junior.

Membership Fees are highly competitive and relatively inexpensive for what is on offer, and the amount of pleasure that sailing on the Richmond River brings. We are in a fabulous location, a fantastic club, and lots of socialising after club racing on the club Veranda, overlooking the river as the sun is setting. We have quality members that are enthusiastic and highly motivated who not only club race but also travel to State and National Sailing Events, and we seem to be a club that regularly breeds Champions.

This Year has seen the addition of a beautiful brand new rowing facility and the donation of 4 brand new skulls, donated from the NSW Academy of sport. Membership has tripled within the year. Weekly rowing trial sessions are available at 8.00am on Sunday Mornings (September-May also).

Annual Events include our club Regatta (February), Rules Nights, Working Bees, River Fest participation and even Pirates Day at the Club have been on offer this year!

So if you are interested in becoming a member, you can learn to Sail, Row and Skull all at The RRS&RC!
